About Kristofferson San Pablo
Kristofferson San Pablo is a Filipino-American artist based in Los Angeles whose work reflects a youthful and autobiographical viewpoint of popular culture. In contrast to the portraits of the people in his life, as well as his observations of California culture, San Pablo often explores images from media taken with a conceptual art and 1980’s appropriation art approach through painting and drawing. Most of the imagery from his work evoke ideas about his Asian-American identity met with ideas about intimacy, authority, humor, classism and piracy. To San Pablo, those oppositions serve as a way to create a type of light hearted but also serious narrative that illustrate his experience growing up in California counterculture scenes. Aside from his fine art practice, San Pablo often works as a designer and art director for the music industry with clients such as Gucci Mane, Lizzo, Rico Nasty, adidas, Delicious Vinyl, Warner Music and Coachella. San Pablo received his MFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
