CONTROL Gallery is pleased to announce that our second Los Angeles exhibit will be in partnership with legendary Australian visual artists, DABSMYLA. 

 

Opening to the public on November 5, 2022, DABSMYLA proudly present IN TECHNICOLOR : a trip into the world of Los Angeles-based visual artists DABSMYLA. Exploring the anthropomorphic nature of their art over the years, this new body of work identifies important moments throughout the DABSMYLA universe, introducing a cast of luminaries who have adorned murals, sketchbooks and paintings globally, becoming symbolic life moments that capture the spirit of past, present and future. 

 

At the forefront of IN TECHNICOLOR are more than 100 different personalities, all visual anecdotes of DABSMYLA’s long-standing artistic partnership and the narratives associated with personal growth, prosperity and creative endeavors over time. 

  

Akin to animation’s transition from black and white to technicolor, this new chapter is a turn of the page in the DABSMYLA storybook, unveiling a new spectrum of color and storytelling – inspired by points in time to create a visual transportation of experiences.

 

“IN TECHNICOLOR will be our most personal show to date, a symbol of all the emotions we’ve experienced as artists throughout our lives, channeled through these unique characters that mean so much to us.” says the duo. 

 

“We’re honored to be able to present DABSMYLA’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles since 2018. Their growth and journey as artists over the years has been exciting to witness on both a personal and professional level and we can’t wait to share all of the surprises we’ve lined up to mark this special moment,” says Roger Gastman. 


IN TECHNICOLOR officially opens on November 5th and runs through December 3rd, 2022. Exclusive merchandise and printed matter, proudly supported by Vista, will be available within the gallery gift shop for the duration of IN TECHNICOLOR.
